Fawkes Café & Bakery is a downtown Edmonton café on the 104th Street Promenade, known for its coffee, baked goods and doughnuts. We worked with Fawkes to refine its brand and bring its café, bakery, retail and online ordering together in one place.
The project covered a refined visual identity, a new WordPress and WooCommerce website connected to Square POS, print and promotional materials, SEO and ongoing support. Three separate websites became one, and within four months of launch, clicks from Google search had doubled.

Web Services
Fawkes ran its business across three separate websites on Wix, Shopify and Square, each handling a different part of the operation. Customers had to know which site to visit to see the menu, preorder doughnuts or buy coffee beans, and the team had to keep all three up to date.
The brand had plenty of personality, but no defined colour palette or font system. Without one, the website, print materials and promotions each looked a little different, and customers didn’t get the same Fawkes from one touchpoint to the next.
We refined the existing brand instead of replacing it, building a typography system, a refined colour palette, and custom backgrounds, patterns and graphic elements. That system became the foundation for the website, print and packaging, and promotional graphics.
We then consolidated the three platforms into one WordPress and WooCommerce website. The store handles café preorders, retail purchases, local pickup and Canada-wide shipping, each with its own rules. We integrated WooCommerce with Fawkes’ Square POS, with automated product imports, custom product filtering, preorder scheduling, tax automation for qualifying coffee products, and order syncing between WooCommerce, Square and ShipStation.
For search, we set up page-level titles, descriptions and keywords that position Fawkes as both a café and a bakery, and handled the domain consolidation and redirects from the old sites.
Customers can now explore the café, browse menus with dietary information, preorder baked goods and doughnuts, and buy coffee beans and merchandise from one website. Wholesale enquiries, a Where to Find Fawkes section and a Friends of Fawkes section show the business beyond its own walls. Since launch, the site has appeared in Google search results tens of thousands of times, brought in thousands of visits from search, and earned a first-page ranking for “coffee shops edmonton”.
The same brand system carries onto the products customers take home. We designed Fawkes’ coffee cups, retail coffee bags and the stickers that seal its doughnut boxes, so the café looks the same in a customer’s hand as it does on screen.
Since launch, we’ve continued to support Fawkes with WooCommerce refinements, Square sync improvements, checkout and shipping fixes, new features and hosting. The work has grown into an ongoing partnership across branding, web, print and technical support.
