Project Overview

Pacific Rim Early Childhood Institute is an education-focused institute dedicated to providing accessible, flexible, and inclusive learning opportunities for students pursuing careers in early childhood education.

We partnered with PRECI to modernize their brand and create a clear, unified identity that reflects the quality of their programs and their long-term vision. The project centred on strategy first — defining who they are, who they serve, and how they communicate — before developing a complete brand system that could be applied consistently across all touchpoints.

The Problem

PRECI’s existing brand no longer reflected the level of professionalism or direction of the institution. The visual identity felt dated, with a script-based mark that lacked clarity and did not translate well across modern applications. This created inconsistency and limited how the brand could be presented across both digital and print materials.

More importantly, there was a lack of defined internal clarity. While the team understood their strengths and values, these ideas had never been formally articulated. This made it difficult to communicate a consistent message to students and stakeholders, and limited the effectiveness of their overall brand presence.

 

Our Process

We began with a Brand Strategy Workshop focused on uncovering and defining PRECI’s core identity. Through this process, we worked closely with their team to establish their purpose, mission, values, positioning, target audience, and tone of voice. This step brought clarity to ideas that had previously been understood but not clearly expressed, creating a strong foundation for the rest of the project.

From there, we developed a complete brand system designed for flexibility and consistency. This included a refined logo system with multiple variations, a carefully selected typography set, and a colour palette that supports a modern and professional identity. Given the scale of the institution and the number of applications required, we took a deliberate and detail-oriented approach to ensure the brand translated seamlessly across all materials.

We also extended the brand into key touchpoints, including letterheads, a student handbook, and a full viewbook, ensuring consistency across both internal and external communications.

 

Our Solution

The final result is a cohesive and modern brand that reflects PRECI’s values and positions them with clarity and confidence. The new identity provides the flexibility needed to support a wide range of applications, while the brand guidelines ensure consistency across all future materials.

Beyond the visual outcome, the project created meaningful internal alignment. The team now has a clear understanding of how to communicate their message, who they are speaking to, and how they present themselves as an institution. This clarity has translated into increased confidence across the organization, supported by overwhelmingly positive feedback from staff, students, and professionals within the field.

The brand now acts as a strong foundation for continued growth, supported by ongoing design work and a system that ensures PRECI can maintain a consistent and professional presence moving forward.
